The company this logo was designed for is called Upgrade Swap, which is located in the Sacramento area. Upgrade Swap is a one of a kind company that allows a person who is not eligible for an upgrade on their cell phone to pay a lower price for a brand new cell phone. It also allows a person who is eligible for an upgrade, but is happy with their current cell phone to buy the upgrade and sell it to make a little extra money.

What is a Brand?

A brand is the emotional idea behind a company. It is the feeling or emotion that is produced from the company. You are your brand, along with your service, product, pricing, colors, style, look, location etc. These aspects are what make your brand. So what kind of feeling is your brand producing in people?

What is Branding?

Branding is the act of establishing a brand’s uniqueness and meaning through creating and managing the signals that convey the idea. These signals communicate what the brand is all about. Branding can communicate in any way that touches our 5 senses.

Effective Branding:

1. For branding to be effective it has to be original and true to what your brand is all about. There are many other businesses or companies doing the same thing that yours is. Therefore, you must give the consumer a good reason to come to you rather than the competition.

2. You must narrow your focus down to communicate your message effectively. Find your niche and stick with it. If you try to appeal to everybody, you will appeal to no one.

3. Your brand must attract and be relevant to your Target Market or Audience. Research what your target audience is looking for and what service, product, or message will draw them to your brand. Know what their need or problem is so you can provide the solution to their need or fix their problem.

BIOGRAPHY

Dalton began learning how to handle tools at the young age of 6 when at school in Brazil, he and the other students used either a razor blade or a pocket knife to sharpen their pencils for drawing and writing.Also, his mother was a seamstress. When Dalton was 8 years old, she taught him how to use a sewing needle to help her with simple projects like hemming and sewing buttons. At the age of 9, his parents gave him a set of metal tools for children, which he used to make his own boxes, toys and go-carts. This is also the age when he began sculpting with knives, chisels and a hammer. Ever since, he has created many objects out of all kinds of materials.At first, he carved large objects; but in 1986, as a challenge to himself and because of his interest in small living things, like plants (moss) and insects (spiders and ants), he decided to create the smallest possible carvings that he could see with his naked eyes. One day, he picked up a working pencil and started carving it.His idea is to bring people’s attention to small things. Small is beautiful. Most of the pencils he uses are found on the streets and sidewalks. Dalton’s work is a recycling process. He turns discarded objects into art.To create his sculpture, he holds the pencil in his hand under a strong light source (table lamp or sunlight) and carves it mostly with a sewing needle and a very sharp, triangular, small, metal blade. He works at very small intervals: 1 to 2 hours maximum per day whenever he gets inspired. He works very slowly by removing specks of graphite at a time. It therefore takes months or sometimes years to complete a sculpture.

For Dalton, sculpting pencils is a hobby and a form of meditation, which requires a lot of patience. His pencil carvings are not for sale. He doesn’t do it for money. He sculpts pencils mostly for himself and his art comes from his heart. He wants to keep it that way.

Graphic Design Auburn Ca-Studio Six by Advnt Design

Graphic Design Auburn Ca project integrating craft and technology to create six posters for Studio Six Pilates located in Auburn California. These posters were designed with an emphasis on minimalism design. They were inspired by the famous dictionary and definition of words. This poster design project includes 6 posters in all describing the 6 key elements of Pilates including Breath, Centering, Concentration, Control, Flow, and Precision.

Each poster is designed with a stencil like silhouette of a Pilates move. They are filled with a two color pattern to give them a little more contrast. I bonded the craft paper prints to 3/4 inch Birch Plywood to give it a rustic crafty feel. I then fastened them to the wall using 3/8 inch galvanized bolts and raising them out from the wall by one inch.

Each Craft Poster measures 22″ x 34″ and sealed for protection of the elements.

Graphic Design Auburn – Design Process & Art Direction

The process and art direction of a design concept takes a lot more work and time than the average person may think. This business card looks simple when looking at the final printed piece. But there were a lot of conceptual reasons and thought processes that went into this simple graphic design auburn layout. These business cards were printed on recycled kraft stock for a vintage look and feel. They have a simple bright colored logo which gives a good contrast when printed on top of the brown kraft stock. Distressing around the edges gives these business cards a more rustic and worn out look and feel to match the style and branding of the Acentos de Mexico boutique.
